Project Title: Social Media Analytics and Visualization
Project Description:
The broad goal of the position is to extract actionable insights from public social media datasets. Applicants are expected to have strong technical, research writing and communication skills, a passion for data analysis and demonstrable expertise and interest in social media analytics
RA Position Duties and Resposibilities

RA will (1) contribute substantially to software development and research projects, publications and presentations at the lab,(2) communicate regularly with the project team, (3) actively participate in the knowledge management and translation of the lab research via our blog and other social media channels as needed. Research Experience and Opportunites Offered RA:
RA will get valuable experience from being involved in the lab's initiatives. It will prepare them for careers in both research and professional settings. First, RA will benefit from the multidisciplinary nature of the team and our research topics. They will have an opportunity to learn and apply methods and techniques from fields that they normally would not be exposed to in their own programs. For example, they will be trained in a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods such as text mining and social network analysis.
Specific Skills / Knowledge / Experience Required
(Include Any Required Courses, Computer Programs, etc.):

Hands-on experience with Information Visualization and Data Science tools and techniques; - Working knowledge of web programming frameworks like Django for Python and visualization JS libraries like d3.js; - Experience with managing and mining textual and social network data from social media sources; - Experience managing Linux-based servers; - Excellent English writing skills.
