These workshops are available through the Academic Integrity Office and are offered by the Learning Success Centre, English Language Support, the Library and the Writing Centre.
There are 3 workshop sessions currently available.
Participants in this workshop will learn the basics of citation and referencing conventions in an academic paper by first learning why this form of documentation is so important in academic writing, Grounded in this understanding, we will provide an overview of citation/referencing rules and conventions for various documentation styles used at Ryerson. Participants will also be guided on where to get more detailed information so they can better manage their own research process. This workshop will benefit all students but particularly those new to or struggling with academic formatting conventions.
Learn how to use the Library’s extensive collection of electronic databases to find the best, most scholarly, and most relevant information available today. This is the type of information your professors want you to use in your assignments and essays. Instruction will be given in searching for and retrieving full-text journal articles for your research assignments. The difference between freely-available Internet-based resources and scholarly sources of information will be discussed. This workshop will be conducted through Zoom. You will be sent a link to the session shortly before the session starts.
